Studies in Language and Literature
Language and Literature
Albanian College offers the Diploma Programme courses English Language and Literature and Albanian Literature. These courses use a broad range of texts, and students grow to appreciate a language’s complexity, wealth and subtleties in a variety of contexts. Students take their studies in a language in which they are academically competent.
Through each course, students are able to develop:
•a personal appreciation of language and literature
•skills in literary criticism using a range of texts from different periods, styles and genres
•an understanding of the formal, stylistic and aesthetic qualities of texts
•strong powers of expression, both written and oral
•an appreciation of cultural differences in perspective
•an understanding of how language challenges and sustains ways of thinking.
Albanian Literature
This course is taught in Albanian and is organized into four parts, each focussed on a group of literary works. Together, the four parts of the course add up to a comprehensive exploration of literature from a variety of cultures, genres and periods. Students learn to appreciate the artistry of literature, and develop the ability to reflect critically on their reading, presenting literary analysis powerfully through both oral and written communication.

English Language and Literature
This course introduces the critical study and interpretation of written and spoken texts from a wide range of literary and non literary genres. The formal analysis of texts is supplemented by awareness that meaning is not fixed but can change in respect to contexts of production and consumption.
